Men – Day Four CAZOVA IN Nassau

Nassau, Bahamas August 19 – Defending champions Suriname and former 10 times kings Barbados scored impressive victories on Day Four of the CAZOVA’s senior competition here in the Kendal GL Isaacs National Gymnasium.

Suriname dropped just one set in stopping Jamaica 25-23, 23-25, 25-17, 25-21 to take charge of Group A. Jamaica previously defeated the hosts The Bahamas but once Suriname follow suit they will earn the direct ticket to the semifinals.

Barbados met and defeated their arch rivals Trinidad and Tobago in a game of high drama and excitement 35-33, 27-25, 25-22 to place second in Group B behind Curacao. The fury of Barbados trio captain Akeel Oxley, Jabarry Goodridge and Ahkeem Mayers burned solid in the very tense game.

Captain of T&T Daynte Stewart seemed on fire with his spikes and power serves. However, with set point 24-20 in the second set T&T failed to finish as Barbados shut down the net to unbelievably lock the scores and take the advantage.

Barbados then totally dominated the third set leading by six and seven points before a late surge by T&T gave some respectability to the final score line 22-25.
